Kohler Co 2022 Believing in Better Report

Our report is an important step in the progress we’re making in our journey to better.

Kohler’s Design for Environment Program

Our journey to communicate the environmental impacts of our products began in 2011 when we began using life cycle inventory to understand the environmental impact of our products and processes. This spurred the development of a program to optimize the design of products and processes, an approach we call Design for Environment (DfE). The DfE program is a creative decision-making process that involves various teams brainstorming solutions to enhance sustainability throughout the product’s lifecycle.

Positive by Design.

We use a tool called the Environmental Resource Impact Calculator (ERIC) to measure the positive environmental impacts of our products. We designate a product as Positive by Design after it demonstrates a positive impact in at least one of four key categories: greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste, and toxicity.

Declare Label Products

Kohler’s commitment to sustainability and product transparency extends to material health. Declare labels display product materials and list those with potential health impacts. Declare labels complement EPDs by considering human health as a sustainability priority.

Explore our products that currently offer Declare labels. For products not shown, please submit a request.

Declare labels are available on a wide range of kitchen and bath products.
