Crafting a Timeless Collection

Interior design maven Shea McGee followed a distinct process for the creation of the Kohler x Studio McGee collection, beginning with a mood board. "I start everything with a mood board, whether it’s a house, a room, a faucet, it doesn’t matter," says Shea. Watch as Shea delves into the collaborative process with the Kohler design team, recounting how they combined styles and craftsmanship to design a timelessly versatile kitchen and bath collection.

Sketches helped Shea visualize what eventually becomes the Embra™ lighting collection.

Working alongside the Kohler design team, Shea pulled nuanced details like font choices, faucet lever engravings, and ribbed textures from Kohler’s 150-year-old archives and artfully bridged them with the present.

The Collaboration Evolution

What initially began as a collaboration on a few individual pieces evolved into the creation of complete collections spanning across multiple categories, including faucets, lighting, cabinetry, and more.
