A Classic Reimagined

Go behind the scenes of our collaboration with Douglas Friedman to create a Numi® 2.0 ad in Marfa, Texas.

The Art of a Perfect Partnership

A creative presence like Douglas Friedman is often influenced by the energy of the town he calls home. We traveled to Marfa, Texas, to meet with Douglas and found the ideal conditions to reimagine our daring 1980s “Toilet in the Road” print ad. Together we were inspired to further explore the Numi 2.0 in film. We collaborated to capture the boldness of the original ad with a new creative lens, showcasing the beauty of the product’s motion with Donald Judd–inspired minimalism.

Meet Douglas Friedman

Douglas Friedman has worked with Vogue, Wallpaper, Rolex, CBS, Kraft, Architectural Digest, Design Insider, Dom Perignon, and more. Douglas is a bold-faced name for more than just his photography. As a darling of the young international social set who gravitate toward the worlds of fashion and art, he frequently finds himself on the other side of the lens as well. His charisma and charm are as infamous as his movie-star looks and his signature 70s mustache.

More than a toilet. A work of art.

In much the same way the original ad elevated the San Raphael® toilet above its status as a bathroom fixture, this new collaboration blurs the lines between everyday objects and fine art sculpture. With its sleek silhouette and advanced technology, Numi 2.0 challenges convention and redefines luxury.
